Breaking LA Hip Hop Artist Robbie Has Dropped Their Most Prodigal Track Yet with “Chinatown”

I almost didn’t want the fragrant Oriental trickling rhythms in the prelude to Rap artist Robbie’s latest single “Chinatown” to end. But once they did, I soon realised how the up and coming independent artist was able to rack up over 100k streams on SoundCloud alone in the three months since the release.

I don’t usually like to throw around the term prodigal, but Chinatown is a track which undoubtedly deserves that accolade. Right from the first few notes in this catharsis-spilling track you’re left hooked by the refreshing authenticity in the soundscape. Robbie evidently set out to make their own way in Hip Hop rather than follow the footsteps of others, and it shows.

Their accessible deadpan lyrical delivery combined with the perfectly polished beats in Chinatown make Robbie an artist with plenty of commercial potential. It’s going to be all too exciting to see what comes next for the LA-based artist.
