Ultimately, music is about expression, which exactly what Aymee Weir poured into her latest single “weight”. In the same conversational style of lyrics as previously used by Kate Nash and Lily Allen, the up and coming Pop artist absolutely blew us away with her prodigal approach to a resonant ballad.
The lyrical hooks are equally as sharp as the momentous builds in the beat behind Weight, they won’t fail to keep you in awe of her progressive Pop style. From the tentatively light piano melodies to the deep grooves of the basslines, you’re treated to it all. Vocally, her style is refreshing, whilst she may keep her style breathy and innocent in the first verses, once you hit the chorus you get to hear the style and strength behind the vocals. It’s clear that in the five years that Aymee has been putting out her music, she’s found her signature style and polished it until it’s radio-ready. I have no doubt that this is just the beginning for the rising star.
