We may have seen an explosion in moody Pop since Billie Eilish found international attention, but nothing quite compares to the graciously morbid tones which you will find on the upcoming EP from Livietta.
The Brazi-based songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer instantly left us mesmerised with the first track on the EP “Amateur”. It’s ethereal, it’s driving, it’s phantasmal, and from the first verse, you’re arrested by the dramatism courtesy of the spatial effects and downtempo winding rhythms. There may be a dark lucidity to the instrumentals, yet Livietta’s vocals are so personably raw you can’t help but find a cathartic intrinsic human connection.
As I listened to the poetically exposing and intellectual lyrics unravel, I couldn’t help but be reminded of Dada expressionists who were inspired to show the true odious nature of mortality.
You’ll have a little while longer to wait to check out the EP for yourselves, in the meantime, you can check out the official music video to Amateur via YouTube.
