Harlem-based APSPDR+ (real name Anthony Brent) is a name well worth remembering, as he will undoubtedly sit atop the short list of in-demand producers in 2016. Formerly known as APSuperProducer, Brent’s shortened moniker of APSPDR+ is symbolic of the creative renaissance he underwent these past years. The shortening of the name is representative of his new, more left leaning style while the ‘+’ sign was added to portray his growth and artistic progression.
Featured in last year’s “10 Producers You Should Know (Right Now)” list, APSuperProducer (stylized as APSPDR+) has been on our radar for a while now and is back with the first single from his forthcoming EP, The Color of Sound. Today, the Harlem-native exclusively premieres “Bed (Reenacted)” featuring vocals from SZA, and frequent collaborators Nemo Achida and MoRuf on Myspace.
“The record is a perfect interpretation and representation of my ‘Dark Grey’ sound,” he explains, “giving you heavy drums, odd snares, light feels, and what I like to call evil bass.’ I hope the people appreciate the vengeful and lusty soundscape.”
