If there’s anything that Anthony Scott’s latest track Simple Things is, is simple.
Right off the bat you’re almost winded by the fairly instrumentally aggressive Hip Hop prelude, I’m not adverse to hard-tempo Hip Hop, but I can’t help but feel that so much of the beat got lost in the overall veracity. There was no clear narrative of the Rap lyrics, everything felt a little sporadic at best. Yet, that isn’t to dispute Anthony Scott’s blinding talent both when it comes to creating a beat or versing relentless Rap bars. The Denver Colorado based artist is renown in his local scene for providing a unique combination of style and content, however I can’t help but feel that’s the understatement of the century. I have no doubt that Anthony Scott makes no apologies for his pioneeringly mind blowing music, and he should see no reason to as long as he keeps on putting out raw, passion-driven Hip Hop designed to bridge the generational Hip Hop gap.
