Alt Indie Rock newcomers the Double Fours released their latest single “Come On” on April 1st, 2019, and I will make no reservations with saying that fans of The Smiths, Joy Division, Wedding Present, Kinesis, and the Strokes are going to find plenty of reasons to add the single to their playlists.
The North East-based outfit combine the sticky-sweet melodicism of the 1960s with the contemporary indulgent raucous vocal allure of 90s Britpop ensuring Come On unravelled as a guitar-led hit which isn’t just an assimilation of former sounds. For a start, there are few Indie artists who can parallel the perceptible intricacies of the Jangle Pop guitars which feed into a tight anthemically strident instrumental arrangement.
