Whilst Trap-Pop cross overs are nothing conceptual, singer songwriter ALIX has created one of the most prodigally soulful tracks I’ve heard this summer. The emerging artist released her latest single In the Middle on July 8th; treating Pop fans to a melodically cathartic offering of pure, unadulterated passion. As you’d expect from a track named In the Middle the lyricism by large deals with the frustrations of reaching an impasse, which I’m sure is a feeling that most will find highly resonant.
With the up and coming artist’s pioneering approach to sound it’s hard to draw comparison to any contemporary singer songwriters who are putting out the same level of emotion atop of such reverberantly succinct beats. The trap and trickle of the 808 beats provide the perfect platform for ALIX to lay down her vocals, they also treat you to a plethora of lush hooks, intricate breakdowns and stylish synth which carries through each bridge and chorus until the track concludes.
