You’d be forgiven for thinking that Ade Birkby’s latest single “Save Me” was a track born in the arid landscapes of Tennessee. Yet, the English artist, channelled all of that roots-deep rhythm from this side of the pond to treat his fans to a soundscape which offers as much to savour lyrically as it does instrumentally.
The acoustic progression of the contemporary single carries plenty of emotive weight which derives from the lyrics – which don’t need much encouragement to resonate. Combined with Ade’s expressive vocal style you can prepare for one of the most soberingly poignant servings of Blues Rock you’ve ever heard. There’s an organic, raw fragility to the sound which you’d be hard pressed to find on the same level from many Rock artists.
