While many artists have autotune to thank for their success, the same can’t be said for the London-based Indie Pop trio 91NIGHTS. If you could imagine the vocal styles of Florence Welch and London Grammar’s Hannah Reid combining you’d get a good idea of how celestially atmospheric the vocal dynamics are.
You may have already heard the band’s debut single “Young Admiration” featured on Channel 4’s Made in Chelsea. If you haven’t, then you’re in store of a deeply soulful synth-led soundscape which creates the perfect platform for the vocals to rest perfectly above.
People are often put off listening to new music because no matter how downtempo it is, it always asks something of the listener. But with Young Admiration, you only have to get through the first verse to realise that there’s everything to gain from slipping into the indulgently accessible single. And there really is no higher praise than that. Despite how easy the soundscape was to sink into, that didn’t mean that they didn’t find intricate and compelling ways to surprise you with each progression.
