“Slide over” is one of the latest drops from the collective of New Mexico based Hip Hop artists who come together to form 2nd Verse. For anyone who prefers a melodic approach to Trap for their vibe-out playlists, the up and coming artist’s seamless productions are irrefutably a safe choice. The light synth notes match a tentative pace from the 808’s and each Rap verse seamlessly rests against the instrumental arrangement to create a beat which was as easy to listen to as breathing. Yet, as cathartic as the beat to Slide Over was, I couldn’t help but feel that they have been a little more inventive with the lyricism. Whilst I’m in no way adverse to Rap artists alluding to their sexual appetites and styles through their lyrics, it seems like a fairly obvious move to make. Yet, that being said, there’s obviously a market for salacious Hip Hop, so I’ll let you be the judge of 2nd Verse’s latest single.
