TheWickedSound – Endless: R&B-Laced Trance

The contemporary opinion of the Urban soundscape has been fairly pessimistic in recent months. So, if you’re looking for your faith to be restored, look no further than the Trance rhythms orchestrated by Auza’ AKA TheWickedSound.

For his latest drop “Endless” the experimental R&B, EDM, and Pop artist cooked up an aurally alchemic composition which fans of any synth-driven electro such as Kraftwerk, Aphex Twin and Depeche Mode are sure to adore. The infusion of the urban rhythm puts a distinctive twist on his sound, to allow Endless to simultaneously appeal to Urban fans.  Even though the track was self-produced, each progression of the electronic effects resonated smoothly to allow Endless to stand as a Testament to Auza’s talent as an artist as well as a producer. If any track released in 2018 deserves to be described as fire, it’s Endless.

Dan Gold – Technique: The Thrashing Grooves of Contemporary EDM

As Trance mixes go, Dan Gold knocked it out of the park with his latest snaringly fabulous, deep rhythmic single Technique. The instrumental track may be under 4 minutes long, yet the thrashing groove which is contained within the track will stay with you for a hell of a lot longer.  The old school keys weaved into the mix took me back to the old school House root, whilst the snaring overlays of sound kept his debut single as fresh at comes. Considering Techniques was Dan Gold’s first ever single I’d like to know what rock he’s been hiding his compellingly classic sound under. Whilst it may take a fair amount of time for the momentum to build within the track once you’re riddled amongst the kicks and drops of the beat it’s safe to say it was worth the wait.

You can check out Dan Gold’s latest Dance hit Technique on Spotify for yourselves now, why not add it to a playlist? With a track like that in your musical arsenal I’d say it would be pretty hard to ever be miserable.

Tatono – Wilderness; A new age in resonance with a Trance / EDM

To all ye music connoisseurs and good music enthusiast, I believe you all are already familiar with the feeling that comes to play when you just got your hands on really new song that you’ve somewhat, in your own discretion accorded all the whole accolades of being a specular jam, even when you have zero clue as to what the music will have in stock for you when you listen to it for the first time. You just go with your instinct and move on to bestow on the song you’re yet to listen to for the first time the sole characteristic of a “Smashing Hot Music”.

It’s even more difficult when the artist is entirely new to you.
That “I hope this song doesn’t disappoint me” moment is everything that keeps me interested in satisfying my curiosity when I lay my hands on a new song.

And for the first time, I was literally bemused and thrilled as the same damn time when this strawberry avalanche splashed on my ear.

“Wilderness” is a new age song that’s embedded in an electronic music genre. It’s an all beat song with no vocal but it’s so damn seductive and captivating. It’s a cool pitched music that can get you in a happy mood. If you are a lover of new age music and electronic music then this track is definitely what you should be listening to now.

Tatono did a very nice work in this song and I’m very much impressed with the quality of the sound and the way it was beautifully produced. I’d love to get to see more of his music works.

Leo Jr Forges New Rap Paths

I guess the question that this short collection of music asks us is this….where next for the seemingly tried and tested format of contemporary rap? And without deviating too far from the recognisable traits of the genres contemporary and commercial pastures…smooth, beat driven soulful melodies…Leo Jr. still manages to find some interesting new places to explore.

And whilst Down Under clearly has one foot planted in the traditions of rap music, right down to the defensive lyrical stance and the confident, scatter gun vocal deliveries, it is where he places his other foot that moves the genre forward. R&B grooves are also prevalent and there is enough pop sensibility that the song walks a fine line between edginess and mass appeal.

One of the aspects of our non-tribal, post-genre musical world, is that as the various barriers have been kicked down, as rules and traditions have been abandoned, the more commercial has been allowed to merge with the underground, or more importantly a whole generation of musician has grown up not even knowing that those restrictions even existed. This is their time, this is their music.

Fam – Hey Fam: Nostalgic R&B Lullabies

Fam released his debut EP mid-November, dubbing himself as a R&B hopeful. Whilst there’s undoubtedly some talent underneath the surface of his tracks, they could do with some fine tuning. Tracks such as ‘Friends Don’t Leave Friends’, have all the key elements that you’d expect from a R&B and Soul track, but they appear in a sporadic fashion. The upbeat tempo rattles throughout the track with scarce melody. The layering of the vocals is just a little too much to fathom for it to be a truly enjoyable track. The back beat is relatively tinny, which is a shame for the Atlanta based singer songwriter.

His vocal ability offers promise, alongside the dubious electronic effects. With a higher production quality, I have no doubt that Fam could rise up in the R&B ranks to become a star, once he’s truly mastered the woozy lullaby sound that he’s aiming for. His sound is heavily influenced by a mix of nostalgia and euphoria, yet it’s lacking the sincerity that you’d hope for in a track.

I hope to hear more from Fam in the near future once he’s fine tuned his style.

Dremon Releases Official Video For ‘Gravity’

Rap is an art in itself, but hip hop is a world of diversity and connection to countless other subgenres. Dremon knows just how to tilt into influences like euro-house and trance, only to spring back with hip hop gold. Such is the case of Gravity. Gravity’s got a bassline that sounds vintage but modern. It’s got a beat that can act as backdrop for a rap verse or be exploited by DJs to get a club moving. Remix artists, this is someone you should be following.

Dremon approaches Gravity with no nonsense. There’s confidence and some direct themes in the lyrics that portray someone who’s not worried about the track. This helps the overall song achieve greater heights. Gravity feels unrestrained and that’s something that can lighten the mood in so many situations. This is a song to have in your repertoire when you need to put that smirk on and face conflict head-on. Dremon is an artist with a personality that’s inviting and enigmatic; a combination that we don’t see too often anymore. This isn’t someone you’d be too intimidated to talk to; it’s someone who you’d want to invite you over. More so, he sounds like someone who might just do so.
