Josh Middleton releases Caught Up – A soulful and acoustic pop ballad

Already acclaimed for being a notorious act in festivals and European tours, up and coming singer-songwriter Josh Middleton has released his new single Caught Up, a knitted weave of soulful and acoustic pop.

Caught Up bases its structure on acoustic guitar and vocals, and even though it gets more rhythmically entertaining when drum loops and percussive sounds enrich the harmony, it could still function beautifully without. When just a few instruments can make the whole tune, it means that the song is already a hit at its core.

This helps explain why Josh Middleton has been recognised as such a talented artist, measuring up to renowned characters such as Sam Smith, Ed Sheeran and Stormzy.

He’s been drawing likes from his fans, both online on social media and offline at gigs, for his mature and groundbreaking lyrics, proving that not all things pop have to be meaningless or shallow.

Josh has an impactful and talented force to grow ahead of him and you may want to follow his progress by listening to Caught Up.

Chevelle Franklyn’s new release ‘Go in Your Strength’ is worthy of high praise

Gospel and psalm singer Chevelle Franklyn has released her inspiring new track ‘Go In Your Strength’, her latest release from new album ‘South Wind Vol 1’.

The acclaimed and much lauded worship songwriter based in Jamaica finds her feet from the get-go with an acapella rendered introduction to the track before it kicks into a congregation-clapping groove. The track highlights what has made her such a force in the international gospel scene and will be sure to delight her fans and followers with a message of thankfulness, hope and purity.

The track shines in its high level of production and Franklyn’s exceptional vocal performance on top of a backing choir in the latter stages of the track is clearly where her fanbase has found its love for her. It’s one worthy of high praise indeed – and it might just pull in some new believers too.

EL-Shaheen has released ‘She Dreams Away’

South African musician EL-Shaheen has dropped single ‘She Dreams Away’ an upbeat and catchy piece.

The sound of rain crashing against the floor to start the track, as the distorted vocals begin to come through. The Rap takes the lead with its slow pace, ensuring you can hear each word, clearly keeping this steady flow.

Adding in them electronic style sound effects that hover over the vocals, intertwining this infectious melody and smooth vocals that bounce off one another, with the added in effect of the rain and the distorted vocal that comes in and then begins to fade out. A piece that has this energetic melody to it and a feel good tune.

ELIAZ has dropped latest single How

ELIAZ has dropped her latest piece ‘How’ through this Pop track a lot of emotion pours through the vocals and the soft instrumentation.

Pure emotion pours through the vocals as the lyrics have this poignant meaning, through the powerful vocal range and instrumentation this track is truly mesmerising and the feelings that come through the voice giving it that brittle tone.

The piano keys create this calming instrumental as the vocals get higher and higher, having that smooth texture to them, sometimes the voice tends to crack and the brittle tone comes through more so when the vocals are at a lower volume.

But ELIAZ has a wide variety of tones when it comes to her voice, she’s not afraid to take it higher and she’s certainly not afraid to push this overwhelming emotion through her voice. The instrumentation does take a bit of a turn near the end, it has this more Hip-Hop style electronic beat where the vocals have this more distorted texture to them then going back into the slow pace style, an incredible piece.

This is one to check out for sure, we can’t wait to see what ELIAZ does next.

Nicholas Henninks poignant track ‘Warriors: A tribute to first responders’ is truly astounding in so many ways.

A Paramedic and Singer/Songwriter who began his musical journey during his childhood, he embraced his acoustic guitar and created inspirational lyrics making his name well known in his homeland Cape Town, South Africa.

He creates music that gives those a voice of hope and the ability to be able to speak up about how they feel. It’s hard rock at it’s finest, his voice has this roar emotion behind it and it gives the track a whole different meaning, it’s so overpowering and hooks you in within the first few seconds.

It shares this heartbreaking story of what it’s like to be a first responder and the devastating things they have to go through daily. Nicholas has these compelling vocals, the word ‘Warriors’ is one that stands out from the rest, the overall sound gets heavier as he wants the audience to hear the most important parts.

Frances Clare – Go: Acoustic Guitar-Fueled Up Tempo Pop

“Go” is a wonderful blend of elevating mainstream pop and folk-pop. Looking at the bigger picture, Frances Clare’s sound could be best described as the meeting corner of Ed Sheeran and Alanis Morissette. Especially about the latter, I can definitely sense an influence in Frances’ singing.

Don’t you dig it when your uplifting pop music features some subtle violin? Musically, this is a song that in another life it could have been a part of Ed Sheeran’s catalog. The song’s backbone is a cute electronic beat -which doesn’t mean that there isn’t some actual drumming there. Acoustic guitar chords accompany the rhythm as well as a lucid bass line that is discreet yet completes the structure of the song delightfully.

“Go” features a happy-go-lucky, charming chorus which brings to mind images of people losing their hats to the wind as they’re driving in their convertible. If you have already started working on your beach body, best of luck to you. If you have already started working on your beach playlist, listen to this song and consider adding it. Listen here

South African Hip Hop Artist Da Les Drops Newest Single ‘Popular Demand’

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yj2SBBrnBKM

Da Les reaches a comfortable balance between retro hip-hop and a crowd-pleasing club banger. Whilst he holds an unprecedented confidence, his fight or flight attitude reflects his ulterior aptitudes towards his musical career. “Popular Demand” is likeable because of its old school feel, followed by a traditional trap endeavour.

The track is launched with a solemn, eerie introduction as it fades slowly into what can merely be described as a carefree affair. The transformation of atmosphere is unexpected and propitious, where the resilient beat plays amiably with the melodic synthesizers, producing the ultimate trap hit. Where the introduction begins with resonating screeches from crows representing hollow malice, then onwards to an untroubled melody which completely renovates the balance of the mood.

Da Les breezes through the track settling easily into a charismatic position, and for this reason is why “Popular Demand” is strikingly appealing. He effortlessly lifts our spirits through an auto-tune vocal which works in an adroit manner. But whereas money and fame may seem like it takes the centre stage of the track, the dominating theme is the opposite. “I know you see money counting in your face/Don’t let it change you, you’ll regret it every day” Da Les professes, but he is determined to keep the track nonchalant as he casually reverts to, “Back by popular demand”. “Popular Demand” can be recognised to hold traits of narcissism, but when dug deeper the self-made conceit is built on the foundation of hopes and dreams.

A&R Factory Present: Christian Heath

Christian Heath is more than just your average man. A husband, father and diving instructor, the 31 year old is also a bona fide singer songwriter. While many may recognise him from the 2009 group of the same name, the Johannesburg based artist has since embarked on a solo career and is looking to take things to a new level.

Since the band’s inception, Christian has had four songs chart in top ten positions across various
stations, including 947, Jacaranda, East Coast Radio and more. Not one to brag, he believes that a good song, no matter the genre or trends of the time, will thrive. This sets the benchmark for his solo material, and those who know his previous works, will know it’s not often he fails to do so.
For many, music is a part of our daily lives, but for some, it’s as vital as the water we drink. For Christian, music was a part of growing up. Born and bred in East London, Christian started vocal training at age 7 and hasn’t looked back since. As with most singer songwriters, he spent the better part of his varsity years playing and singing in pubs and restaurants around Port Elizabeth, before relocating to Johannesburg in search of bigger and better things.

The band was a great training ground and the experiences are unforgettable. The singer recorded various singles in Hollywood and has opened for top South Africa acts, such as Prime Circle, Louise Carver, Jason Hartman and more. The most important lesson he took from this experience however, is that “If you don’t believe in yourself, no one will.”

Moreover, he says: “Work hard to get what you want cause no one will do that for you.” While he misses the brotherhood of a band, Christian wanted to return to his roots. With more control over his work, he can create the kind of music he would want to listen to. He says, “I am in control of everything and every decision no matter the outcome is my own.”

Asked what inspires his songwriter, Christian cites his family. Family is 200% behind everything he does and as much apart of the journey as he is. “They are everything to me,” he says. With his priorities in check, Christian, with his guitar in arm is ready to tackle the world, one hit single at a time.
