Merivida – Smoke: Psychedelically Vitriolic Alt Rock

https://open.spotify.com/track/4izXJnGLnGHzmqvRWZS0Tv

Up and coming Alt Rock artist Merivida has made their debut with their genre-defying vitriolically explosive album “Leaked Transmissions from the Cosmos”.

While each track is a riotous convergence of Punk, Grunge, Psych, and Garage Rock, the best introduction to Merivida’s high-octane spacy sound is undoubtedly Smoke.

With the same rhythmically serpentine style as Velvet Revolver, Garage Punk vocals and the angst which practically drips from the frenzied instrumentals Smoke isn’t a track which you’ll forget in a hurry. Even with the harsh and grungy tones, Smoke still offers an anthemic feel, I can’t imagine how insanely energetic a live set from the Washington-based artist would be.

You can check out Smoke along for yourselves via Spotify. But we’d highly recommend listening to Leaked Transmissions from the Cosmos in full. It’s a rare perfectly curated release which allows each of Merivida’s hypnotically grungy tracks to become even more transfixing.

Back of House – Take a Bulleit: Confrontationally Cathartic Garage Punk

“Take a Bulleit” is the fiery, snappy new Rock single from up and coming artist Back of House. The Garage Punk attitude runs right through their angsty hit which also uses the stylistically menacing energy of Post Punk.

Artists such as Back of House prove quite irrefutably that Punk definitely isn’t dead. The confrontationally cathartic energy will always be essential on the airwaves.  And it’s safe to say that with Take a Bulleit, they have stamped their own signature sound in Punk.

Their captivatingly bendy basslines, infectious vocal swagger, and ability to pull together an energetic earworm of a hit should ensure that Back of House doesn’t remain on the underground for all too long.

Up and Coming Garage Punks Summer of Blood release their debut single “Rotten Fruit”

As an overly enthused fan of 80s Matchbox B-Line Disaster, hearing the debut single “Rotten Fruit” from up and coming Garage Punk artist Summer of Blood was an incredibly welcome defiling of my eardrums.

With the running rhythms and the caustic amount of energy poured into Rotten Fruit, Summer of Blood have definitely got our attention. Punk isn’t dead, but it’s on its last legs, and it was about time a new band emerged with the vivacity to make us fall in love with relatable aural angst once more. Rotten Fruit contains a fair amount of snarling noise, yet even when the momentum of the track peaks, you’re never left with discord. There’s plenty of abrasive fuzz, yet you’ll be able to appreciate each of the instrumentals coming together and bleeding blistering rhythm.

You can check out Summer of Blood’s raucously mesmeric feat of Alt-Rock for yourselves by heading over to Spotify.

The Naddiks – Let Go: Garage Punk with a Poignant Lyrical Punch

Remember when alternative music had that raw, unrestrained, untainted energy behind it?

You may have to think back to the glory days of Alt Rock when Rancid and the Offspring reigned supreme. Yet, for a contemporary hit of the infectious chugging melodies and raucous expression, the Naddiks have released their latest single “Let Go”. With a slight hint of Punk to the vocals you can taste the chaos in the composition whilst the instrumentals take care of the tight and scuzzy melodies with a fair few soaring guitar riffs thrown into the mix as the cherry on the cake. Despite the hard-hitting delivery of Let Go, the Naddiks poignantly penned the lyrics to express the importance of letting go of the small things in life and trusting in the powers that lie outside of ourselves.

You can check out The Naddiks’ latest single Let Go for yourselves by heading over to SoundCloud. Good luck getting the angsty sticky-sweet melody out of your head.

PYRO AND THE LEXITRON – Toughen Up: Welcoming Riot Grrrl to the 21st Century

https://youtu.be/EevNHZdfsog

Ever get that feeling that you’ve just stumbled across something monumental?

It doesn’t happen much for me, but Pyro and the Lexitron are no ordinary band. Their guitar-driven anthemic attack of Riot Grrrl rhythm hit me like a tonne of bricks when I first checked out their debut track Toughen Up. The duet created a massive, raucous rolling sound with the effects on guitar and tight as they come drum rolls which were all tightly packaged together in a thrashing wrapping of synth sound. The track kicks off with a riff straight of Welcome to the Jungle, but PYRO AND THE LEXITRON follow up with rhythmic mix of Garage Punk Rock of the Stooges, mixed with the charming sensibility of Kathleen Hanna with her latest projects such as Julie Ruin.

I have honestly worshiped pretty much every noteworthy Riot Grrrl band under the sun, yet, I have never happened across such a pioneering sound that pertains to that genre.

The music video to Toughen Up is just as amazingly futuristic as Pyro and the Lexitron’s Garage Punk sound, you can check it out over on YouTube.
